What Makes You Healthy

What Makes You Healthy

Welcome to our Women’s Wellness issue.   As I near another birthday and add yet another year to the count, I can’t help but realize how fragile life can be and appreciate the health blessings I have.

In my 20s and 30s, I thought “Women’s Wellness” represented diets and exercise trends. I measured my “Wellness” based on only exterior factors. Now as I enter my mid-40s, I realize how little those things have to do with true wellness.  We are bombarded daily with media that leads us to believe most women would trade anything to turn back the clock and be younger, but maybe it’s just me, I wouldn’t trade where I am now to go backwards.  Now don’t get me wrong, I’d love to get the butt my 20 year old self had LOL!

I think an important question we need to ask ourselves is what wellness means to us?  For me it doesn’t only represent the physical as it once did, but more importantly, my mental state, and the state of my relationships with my family and friends. In this issue, we will touch on different health issues such as breast cancer, heart disease, diet and exercise, and more. But I hope as you are reading this issue you begin to understand that true wellness is more than just medical or physical but also mental.

Take the time to live in the moment.  Put down your phone and smell the fresh air, take a walk outside now that it’s not as hot, and really enjoy the small moments right in front of you.

Sincerely,
